For a luxury bag showroom near Madison Square Park in Manhattan, our brief was to create a sophisticated residential vibe within a utilitarian box, without modifying the envelope in any way. The twelve-hundred square foot space provides facilities for a sales staff and considerable inventory, while offering an intimate environment for presentations and entertaining. Silvery shelving towers by USM Haller Systems and blonde oak tables by Charlotte Perriand provide adaptable display and storage. The room's urbane furnishings include bronze armchairs by Paul Evans, a George Smith Chesterfield sofa, a vintage French mirrored screen and a ‘Gemini’ marble and iron low table by The Archers, all anchored on silk carpet. Lighting is by Flos and Azucena. A suite of vintage Enzo Mari ‘Box’ chairs - in the same shade of electric blue as the handbags' linings - provides an exceptional moment of color in an otherwise monochromatic room.
